Introduction


This course enables students to extend their knowledge of current academic research methodology as it is applied to farm management and to demonstrate their advanced knowledge and skills through the conduct of a supervised research project and preparation of an honours dissertation.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites


Refer to admissions into Honours Degree programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section). Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated an ability and interest in research and a commitment to academic excellence.

Duration and Availability


This honours course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Part-time students are expected to complete withing two years.

Course Organisation


This program consists of project work over two semesters. Agribusiness Project Design 401 is undertaken as the first stage of students project work. Agribusiness Honours Project 402 is the final component of the research project and covers the execution and writing of the project begun in Agribusiness Project Design 401. A detailed review of the relevant literature will be developed under the guidance of the supervisor and if necessary, refine the program objectives The necessary research and analytical skills will be developed that are required to assemble and analyse the results of the dissertation.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
