176406 v.4 Graduate Diploma in ComputingGradDipComp(Curtin) IntroductionThe course is designed for graduates with little or no experience in computing. It examines the fundamental concepts underlying the development of computer systems, describing methods for analysing and solving problems arising from applications and developing relevant skills. This course provides - a sound education in computing principles and practice, retraining for graduates from other disciplines to enhance career prospects or enable them to enter the computing profession, continuing education for those working in the computing area and a computing knowledge for the teaching profession. Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesA degree or equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognised tertiary educational institution. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityThe course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Full-time students attend some classes and practicals during the day. Two intakes are offered each year, in March and August. Professional RecognitionGraduates are eligible for Associate Level accreditation of the Australian Computer Society. Additional Course ExpensesStudents may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
