Syllabus: | Properties and structure of amino acids, pH, pK and buffers, conformation and dynamics of proteins, protein purification and chromatographic techniques, myoglobin, haemoglobin, connective tissue proteins, enzymes, mechanisms of catalysis, computers and the molecular modelling of proteins, enzyme kinetics and measurement, enzyme inhibition, mechanisms of enzyme action, and an overview of protein separation techniques. Overview, concepts and designs of metabolism, carbohydrates, glycogen, glycolysis, citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, electron transport and fat metabolism. |
