Syllabus: | A program of lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions and case studies - made up of four modules. Module One (two weeks) covers cell injury/death including apoptosis, atrophy, hypertrophy and necrosis. Module two (two weeks) covers inflammation and immunological reactions. Module three (four weeks) goes on to cover neoplasia/cancer and cytology basics. Module four (four weeks) covers major organ system pathology including case studies. The systems studied may include, but are not limited to: Skin - endothelial, GIT, liver - biliary, renal, nervous and respiratory. A theme of 'relationship of pathology to laboratory diagnostic test results' will be utilised through the tutorial sessions for the whole unit. |
