Syllabus: | The idea of heritage and building conservation. Heritage and conservation theory including interpretation. Heritage legislation and International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) conservation guidelines. The assessment of cultural significance and conservation management. The practices of archival research, building inspections, building measurement and recording. The conservation of building construction and materials. The recycling of buildings. As a postgraduate level unit, students will be expected to display a higher level of academic achievement than at undergraduate level and to review the literature at greater depth and critical analysis. |
