Syllabus: Molecular diffusion and convective diffusion, types of mass transfer coefficient. Interphase mass Transfer and Two resistance model, overall mass transfer coefficient. Equilibrium and Rate Processes. Distillation, V-L Equilibrium, Binary Equilibria, Enthalpy-concentration diagram, McCabe Thiele and Ponchon-Savarit methods of design for the unit operations of distillation. Material balance in contacting equipment, counter current mass transfer, staged and continuous contact processes. Gas Absorption and Packed Tower Design. Packings and Column Internals. Solvent Extraction and Leaching. Humidification.
