Syllabus: | The overall aim of this unit is to provide a professional level of understanding of contract and procurement management, procurement decision making and policy development. This is a cross-disciplinary area of academic and practitioner practice and research and focuses on the area of strategic procurement examining competitive tendering and contracting models and processes, risk management, the interface with project management, outsourcing and the associated growth of services contracting, long term contract and relationship management, the development of public- private partnerships, and a continuing overview of current and future international developments in the field. Emphasis is given to the leadership and strategic implementation functions because of the critical role that they play in procurement. |
