Introduction

This course is designed for those wanting to develop accounting skills to assist in preparing themselves for professional level examinations for national and international professional bodies. It examines advanced management accounting, financial accounting and auditing issues and assists in developing the investigative and analytical skills of students wanting an international career in accounting.

Additional Introductory Information

This course is specifically designed to prepare students for the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Professional level exams. Applicants who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the entry into this course: (a) Applicants with an accounting degree which follows a syllabus significantly different to that accepted by the Australian Professional Accounting Bodies; or (b) Applicants who have a non-accounting degree, having passed the ACCA Fundamental level exams or having been exempted from the ACCA Fundamental level exams. Each application will be assessed individually. Applicants who are progressing towards full professional membership of the ACCA but do not have a degree can qualify for the entry into the masters degree via the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Accounting.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

This course is available to applicants who have a bachelor degree, or equivalent, not recognised by the Australian professional accounting bodies, or a graduate certificate in corporate accounting. They must meet the English requirements for entry into a Curtin graduate course.

Intermediate Awards 1

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
