BCom(Curtin)

Course CRICOS Code: 013905G

Introduction

The Bachelor of Commerce programs are highly relevant to the requirements of today's world with considerable emphasis on decision-making, trends in technology and associated work patterns, and other aspects of management in today's highly competitive business arena. Curtin's undergraduate commerce programs are designed to provide professional expertise in a choice of one or two majors from 20 discipline areas. As well as theoretical concepts, the programs also emphasise the application of knowledge to commerce and industry. Graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce with suitable work experience may be considered for admission to graduate courses in Curtin Business School.

Course Organisation

Students may undertake a combination of two majors within this course or may choose one major and an elective stream in which there is the possibility of taking further study in the same discipline or choose a series of units from other disciplines. Further Information

To apply for the Bachelor of Commerce, applicants need only select the course code for the campus of their choice once; majors will be selected upon enrolment. A brochure with detailed information on majors and career options is available from Curtin Business School Student Services on telephone (08) 9266 7713 (Bentley campus).

Special Note

Seven of the eight core units within the bachelor of Commerce are taken in the first year of the course. Wherever possible, the final unit, Business Capstone 301, will be taken in a student's final semester of study. This unit involves small teams of students from each CBS undergraduate School (Accounting, Business Law and Taxation, Economics and Finance, Information Systems, Management and Marketing) combining their knowledge and skills in a multi-disciplinary virtual business project. One aim of the unit is to integrate and synthesise in an applied way all the learning experiences obtained by students in their undergraduate study programs.
