Syllabus: | Fundamentals of mineral exploration. Geological, geochemical and geophysical methods in exploration. Regolith materials: classification, genesis and terminology. Weathering processes. Geochemical dispersion processes. Regolith landscape evolution and models. Primary and secondary geochemical and geophysical expression of deposits. Soil, drainage sediment, laterite, vegetation, groundwater surveys and subsurface sampling: planning, execution and interpretation. Drilling techniques. Subsurface cuttings and core logging, and alteration zone mapping using reflectance methods. Primary and secondary geochemical dispersion and case histories of different deposit styles. Analytical procedures, QAlQC, data visualisation and data analysis for target generation |
