Syllabus: | This experimental unit focuses on enclosure, drawing on relevant theory to examine the nature and construct of spaces we inhabit, to question where and how we live and work and what we do in between particularly in relation to the influence of context: the specific geographic, cultural, social, political, economic, technological and scientific environment of the enclosure. That we almost always live in the presence of material and emotional remnants of our past that are merging with visions of our future is given recognition. Via a broad theoretical inquiry, this unit stimulates a view to the future informed by an understanding of the past and an awareness of the present. |
