Syllabus: | This unit presents a historical overview of technological developments that have enabled computer-mediated audio-visual communication - multimedia to be identified as a broad discipline within which design plays a significant role. The unit places particular emphasis on the relationship between technology and society. The series of lectures in this unit avoids the presentation of a linear chronology of technological progress. Instead it projects an encompassing view of technology that correlates to aspects of society. |
