Introduction
This course combines advanced coursework in the theoretical and practical aspects of media and information, with individual research relating to the Internet including policy, cultural and social studies, design and information theories. Students engage in a semester of coursework and individual project preparation, followed by a semester of intensive research, writing, creative and professional practice during their honours dissertation. Students are required to contribute to their research via presentations in an academic setting. They will gain skills in individual project management, research techniques, critical thinking and analytical writing, as well as gaining detailed knowledge in their specific project area. Creative production and professional practice can be combined with academic research to provide a substantial applied research outcome. Students are encouraged to complete interdisciplinary work relating the Internet to the broader, converging field of media and information.
