Syllabus: | Stress/strain, tensors, transformations in 2D and 3D, Mohr circle, constitutive relations- for different materials, behaviour under stress, rock behaviour under hydrostatic/non-hydro stresses, Index properties of rocks, density, porosity, void percentage, saturation, permeability, durability index, strength. Lab work and theory using failure criteria- Mohr-Couloumb, Griffith, Hoek-Brown, ground stresses such as in-situ and induced, calculations of different stress regimes. Principles and calc of hydraulic fracturing, over-coring, pore pressure and effective stress concepts. Creep, confining pressure, temperature, dynamic loading. Applications of these concepts- wellbore stability, sanding/solid production prediction, hydraulic fracturing, perforation optimization, depletion effects, thermal analysis, compaction and subsidence. |
