Syllabus:	Antimicrobial chemotherapy: structure and action of principal groups of antibiotics. Bacterial resistance: mechanisms and methods of laboratory susceptibility testing. Molecular diagnostics and their use. Infectious diseases affecting various body sites: study of diseases, examination of specimens, and laboratory detection and identification of causative organisms. The pathogenesis and epidemiology of infectious diseases are examined.
