Syllabus: | Designed for students with TEE Physics or those who have taken Engineering Physics 100 at Curtin. Newton's Laws: forces, equilibrium, moments and resultants, couples and distributed forces. Free bodies and free-body diagrams. Trusses: analysis of beams. Stress and strain, thermal effects. Failure: compatibility, superposition. Displacement, velocity and acceleration, linear and rotational motion. Plane kinematics and kinetics, momentum; work, power, PE and KE hydrostatics, fluid flow, pressure, flow rate, momentum flux, fluid forces and Bernoulli equation. |
