Syllabus: The purpose of this unit is to help the student clarify their own value system, acquire some basic knowledge of universal and particular ethical theories and principles and develop skills to apply in the field of international health. One of the distinctive characteristics of being a professional is the capacity to reason and solve problems. This unit will augment the student's existing reasoning or problem solving skills in relation to health issues or problems by incorporating ethical reasoning into the reasoning process. When a student completes this unit she or he will understand and be equipped to undertake the basic process of making an ethically based decision within a given context.
