Syllabus: Designing constraints, indexes and storage structures; loading data. Design considerations for access path optimisation. Database maintenance. Issues in backup, recovery and locking. Design and development of applications using embedded structured query language (SQL). Object-oriented databases. Data warehousing and data mining. Design of databases for electronic commerce.
