Introduction

This course further develops the ability to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate systems of healthcare delivery. It is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to hold senior management, administrative and planning positions within health service institutions. It is aimed at both health professionals wishing to acquire management and administrative skills and non-health professionals intending to seek a career in health services management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Approved health science degrees although graduates from other backgrounds will also be considered. Applicants with the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Administration will be eligible to apply and have completed units credited.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. There is a first and a second semester intake available.

Intermediate Awards 1

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:

Intermediate Awards II

Graduate Certificate in Health Policy and Management; Postgraduate Diploma in Health Administration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
