Syllabus: | This unit has a particular focus on the role of writing as a social construct, and on building understandings and knowledge about language and how it works. Students will study a wide range of texts written by children and gain insights into the acquisition of literacy skills, the features of different writing forms and the processes involved in writing, such as planning and revision. Progress maps, diagnostic instruments, intervention programs and resources are examined. Opportunities are also provided for the practical application of a repertoire of writing and reading strategies and instructional practices that are suitable for teaching English in primary schools. |
