Introduction

This research course advances knowledge in selected areas of biomedical science.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Students who have graduated with, or qualified for, the award of a relevant degree of Bachelor with first or second class Honours, or Postgraduate Diploma within the University, or graduated with or qualified for, the award of a relevant degree of Bachelor of within the University, with a superior performance, together with relevant and substantial work experience. Obtained equivalent qualifications from another institution which are recognised by tertiary admissions authorities in Australia and which are deemed to be equivalent, or a substitute for, any of the qualifications prescribed above.

Duration and Availability

The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, School of Biomedical Science. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis may be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.

Special Note

It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive the Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Sciences but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission.
