This course provides a fourth year of individual research in studio practice and advanced theoretical studies in contemporary visual art. It emphasises the interconnectedness of theory and practice and provides opportunities for inter-disciplinary studies. This course is an ideal preparation for higher research studies.
Refer to Admission into Honours Degree Programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section). Only students with outstanding performance in undergraduate studio practice will be considered for entry to the honours program. Students intending to apply for entry must have achieved a minimum course weighted average of 65 per cent. Candidates must inform the art honours coordinator of their intention to apply for entry to the honours program by the end of fifth semester.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
The honours program is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
Curtin University reserves the right to alter the internal composition of any course to ensure learning outcomes retain maximum relevance.
