| Syllabus: | The design industry continues to evolve with a confluence of factors impacting the way design is approached and the use of design across of variety of industries. There is a constant need for design practitioners to innovate and critically engage with their practice in view of the future. In this unit students are expected to critically evaluate the trends and future nuances of their practice and the design industry. In doing so the students as designers are expected to explore not just design challenges of today but more so the design challenges of tomorrow. Students will investigate a design challenge in the context of society, culture, technology and the economy of the future. Students are expected to respond to this design challenge of the future by designing a creative outcome addressing the context, informed by future-oriented industry trends and exploring new design approaches where applicable. |
