| Syllabus: | This unit will introduce students to the intricacies of developing, managing and marketing in the entertainment industry. As a starting point, students will learn about the myriad of businesses that make up the entertainment industry. Then, students will explore the managerial and marketing practices of entertainment businesses. This encompasses (1) developing, branding and marketing entertainment products for specific audiences; (2) producing and managing entertainment product portfolios; and (3) delivering authentic entertainment experiences. The unit also delves into sustainable entertainment product management with a specific focus on the triple bottom line as well as innovative business orientations. Entertainment Industry Essentials aims to deliver a vibrant learning experience through interactive lectures and seminar activities, guest lectures and a field trip. Students taking the unit can expect to develop a theoretical and practical understanding of this exciting multi-billion dollar industry. |
