| Syllabus: | This unit covers the expectations and requirements of performing control surveying for open pit and underground mining environments. Principles covered are customised to the area of mine surveying and include specifications of a control network, its design, observational procedures, rigorous calculations and adjustment of the observed data, and appropriate reporting of the final product in line with Australian mine survey guidelines and practices. The objective is to build upon individual practices and techniques presented in previous units, and explore the high level concepts of error propagation and detection, observation weighting, the combined adjustment, and how the different survey measurements and practices interact, compliment and affect each other. Students will be expected to work collaboratively and independently on field work exercises which will reflect contemporary workplace practices and cover the different techniques they will encounter. |
