Course Overview
Graduate Certificates prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.
The Graduate Certificate in Business Fundamentals offers a contemporary business qualification that is relevant to all disciplines and is particularly useful in equipping professionals with the foundational business knowledge required for career advancement. The course includes core content in business project management, business analytics, data management and security, and transformative technologies that impact society and its business practices. Students will customise their degree with an optional unit drawn from a specialisation such as human resource management, supply chains, marketing and finance. Throughout the course, students will enhance their skills in critical thinking and creativity, and build awareness through collaboration with peers from diverse disciplines – thereby improving their employability. The graduate certificate is modular in nature. It can be completed as a standalone qualification or provide a pathway to the Master of Human Resources, and Master of Finance.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.
Units are available for internal and external (online) enrolment. Some internal units may include weekend intensive classes.
Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. All Curtin courses have compulsory and other core capabilities that are essential for demonstrating the achievement of course learning outcomes and graduation. Students who are unable to meet or demonstrate those requirements, now or in later stages during their studies, may seek reasonable adjustments by the University wherever possible to facilitate alternative ways of achieving those requirements. If reasonable adjustments cannot be accommodated, Curtin will discuss study options to find an alternative course of study or an exit degree. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Applicants require a bachelor degree in any discipline, or at least 5 years relevant work experience. Applicants must also meet Curtin’s English language proficiency requirements.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. This course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study. Students will complete three core units that are compulsory and one optional unit. Units are available on-campus and online, and available for both Semester 1 and Semester 2.
