Course Overview
Graduate Certificates prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.
This course is comprised of content that has been arranged into thematic stacks which offer transdisciplinary, innovative combinations. A strong emphasis within these stacks are industry links and connections with professions. The course capstone is a personal, reflective project that links the thematic stacks to the individual students professional world. This course is future focused and the student will have the opportunity to learn with peers from similar or associated professional backgrounds.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. All Curtin courses have compulsory and other core capabilities that are essential for demonstrating the achievement of course learning outcomes and graduation. Students who are unable to meet or demonstrate those requirements, now or in later stages during their studies, may seek reasonable adjustments by the University wherever possible to facilitate alternative ways of achieving those requirements. If reasonable adjustments cannot be accommodated, Curtin will discuss study options to find an alternative course of study or an exit degree. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Graduate Certificates contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply scientific, engineering and technological principles to mine development projects
2. apply information technologies and mining software tools to develop mine plans
3. access, evaluate and synthesise mine planning and design information from multiple sources
4. communicate in ways appropriate to the discipline of mining engineering, using the written word and oral presentations
5. demonstrate responsibility and self-learning skills by applying critical reflection and being proactive
6. describe mining in the global environment and apply best practice standards in mining methods and technologies
7. demonstrate respect for cultural diversity in professional life
8. work in accordance with professional standards and demonstrate responsibility towards the broader community, work in teams
