The major is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of, and competencies in, accounting and associated fields of auditing, taxation, business law and financial management. It equips graduates for a professional accounting career in commerce, industry, government or public practice.

Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Major/Stream Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply principles of accounting, economics, information communication and technology (ICT) systems, statistic, law and behavioural science as they relate to reporting business activity
2. critically analyse issues surrounding the development of accounting ICT systems, incorporating state-of-the-art tools in databases and other technologies, to support collection, aggregation, and presentation of relevant information
3. identify, analyse and communicate relevant economic information from a variety of sources to inform business functions
4. gain an understanding of globalisation and rapid evolution of business models and processes
5. develop intercultural awareness and emotional intelligence to function effectively in the workplace of the future
6. apply an ethical approach to business decision-making
