B-MASCOMS v.3 Bachelor of Communications
BA(Curtin)
Course CRICOS Code: 018629D
Registered full-time Duration:
3 Years
Course Overview
Bachelor Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in a discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications.
Incorporating critical thinking skills as well as practical work which models industry practice, the Bachelor of Communications prepares students for a range of different positions in media and communications. The Bachelor of Communications provides training for traditional media and communication roles, but also prepares students for emerging job roles that may not yet exist in these fields. Students specialise in one of the following media areas: Web Media, Journalism or Corporate Screen Communication. They combine this with a second specialisation in either another media area (Web Media, Journalism or Corporate Screen Communication), a business area (Public Relations or Marketing Communication), or a design area (Digital Experience, Photography or Graphic Communication).
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.
Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Bachelor Degree are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/ and include flexible entry pathways. All Curtin courses have compulsory and other core capabilities that are essential for demonstrating the achievement of course learning outcomes and graduation. Students who are unable to meet or demonstrate those requirements, now or in later stages during their studies, may seek reasonable adjustments by the University wherever possible to facilitate alternative ways of achieving those requirements. If reasonable adjustments cannot be accommodated, Curtin will discuss study options to find an alternative course of study or an exit degree. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Essential TEE Subjects: English, English Literature or English as an Additional Language/Dialect. TAFE Requirements: A TAFE certificate IV or a TAFE diploma. STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. While not a formal requirement for entry, students are encouraged to have basic computing skills.

Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Further information can be found at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au/non-school-leavers/rpl.cfm
