This major provides an opportunity for physiotherapists to become expert clinicians in continence and pelvic health physiotherapy and its related areas of practice. The program is designed to develop clinical expertise through a foundation of evidence based practice, clinical reasoning and sound diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Students will develop knowledge and skills in the management of pelvic floor dysfunction and its many presentations: disorders of bladder and bowel functions and pelvic organ and pelvic girdle support; sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain. As participants progress through the major, they will become expert evaluators and consumers of research, developing a high level of competence in conducting clinical research that will contribute to the body of knowledge in this emerging area of continence and pelvic health physiotherapy.

A graduate of this course can:
1. integrating evidence-based assessment and management of incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction and exercise rehabilitation across the lifespan
2. communicate effectively with clients, community and industrial partners that enhances the assessment and management of individuals and pelvic floor dysfunction
3. justify personal and professional knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, and the impact of these on the provision of continence and pelvic floor dysfunction
4. apply international standards and practice in the assessment and management of incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction
5. demonstrate respect for individual human rights and cultural diversity in promoting health and well-being in clinical and diverse populations/amongst clientele and peers
6. appraise current and emerging technologies that are relevant to the field of continence and pelvic floor physiotherapy
