| Syllabus: | This unit will consolidate social work skills, knowledge, and practice frameworks developed in the previous stages of the course. It will integrate student understandings of a range of social work practices, as well as the values, roles and responsibilities involved in professional practice. Student will be asked to think critically about their role in building a strong working relationship with clients, colleagues, and other organisations, as well as the ways this may be influenced by values, ethics, principles and the operations of power. The legislative context of practice will be explored both in terms of professional integrity and accountability and in identifying social work’s interaction with the legal system. Students will also extend their interpersonal and communication skills in essential areas of practice. This unit prepares students for beginning social work practice. |
