| Syllabus: | This unit utilises feasibility analysis, business model knowledge, creativity and innovation skills as well as other developing self-efficacies to prepare students for enterprise by involvement in an intensive mixed-mode workshop series that is led by industry specialists in the start-up space. The unit utilises the Lean Canvas approach to develop Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for market validation. MVPs that do prove viable (by assessment) are eligible to pitch to an investment panel of innovators, venture capitalists, technologists, academics and business angels for feedback. Selected proposals can also receive a scholarship to participate in Curtin Ignition and one winner will receive a Kick-Start grant to help launch their enterprise. Students who do not have a real business proposal to pitch can create a pro-forma concept or in some cases (by mutual agreement) join forces with another student proposal. Students who do not want to develop and pitch a proposal are encouraged to select the alternate start-up study tour unit. |
