| Syllabus: | Advances in science and technology used in coastal and marine research improves the efficiency and accuracy of data collection, the scope and applicability of results, and ultimately, sustainable resource management. MARI3000 Advanced Marine Science and Technology exposes students to the technology currently used in coastal and marine research and the science it underpins. Guest lecturers will present their current work using particular technologies and will pose real-life problems that can be addressed using these methods. Students will intensively workshop solutions to these problems, and present their work in a variety of highly contextualised formats. Examples of topics that may be covered are advances in remote sensing, remote and autonomous underwater vehicles, oceanographic instrumentation, genomics, acoustic tagging and ecological modelling. |
