This course is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in a field other than business, commerce or economics, or equivalent, and who wish to develop an understanding of the functional areas of business. A typical student undertaking the courseis one who holds a degree in a technical field but whose work activities have become progressively more management related and less dependent upon technical expertise. The course provides a broad coverage of a core of business related subjects. A 70 per cent average on four units is generally required for entry to the Master of Business Administration.
A degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution in a field other than business, commerce or economics, a graduate certificate or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. A limited number of applicants without a recognised degree or equivalent, but whose post- secondary education or training and work experience indicates that they would benefit and be able to contribute effectively to the course may be admitted.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Students with waivers may select other appropriate foundation or business environment units from the Master of Business Administration or an additional optional Graduate Diploma introductory unit.
This course is twelve months full-time or equivalent part-time study. Units within this course are offered on a trimester and / or semester basis, allowing full-time students to complete the course in eight months (for trimesters). The course may be completed internally or with a mix of both internal and online study. International onshore students on student visas are not permitted to study fully online. A student who has completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval from the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.
