The course is designed for those outside the discipline of mining engineering who wish to become knowledgeable in the specialist skills of the mining industry and in particular become familiar with mining engineering methods. The course prepares students for managerial responsibilities in the mining industry, prepares for operational management at both quarry and underground managers levels, and satisfies the entry requirements for the postgraduate study of mining engineering.
At least a three year bachelor degree in geology, mine surveying, engineering or science from a recognised institution.
Students are required to complete an approved first aid course prior to being eligible for the award. Course fees must be met by the student.
No recognition of prior learning is considered for this course. The course will be structured to suit the individuals background.
This course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. This course can be taken on an external basis.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
