This double degree is designed to provide students with the core components of the Bachelor of Arts (Languages and Asian Culture) together with a Bachelor of Science (Biology) which includes substantial language and area studies components. As such, it equips biology graduates with a high level of Asian literacy, enabling them to take advantage of the growing range of employment opportunities in this rapidly growing and environmentally diverse and vulnerable region.

Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available in the external mode of study.
Students undertake a major in Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Asian Studies or TESOL in combination with the Environmental Biology major. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course inone of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.
Graduates are eligible for Associate Membership of the Australian Institute of Biology and the Environment Institute of Australia. Full membership becomes possible for graduates with honours or pass degrees after three or four years of professional practice respectively.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
