Syllabus: | Introduction and practice of a technical vocabulary relevant to a chosen field. Aural-oral and written drills in applying knowledge of a technical vocabulary in simulated situations. Introduction of new Kanji characters. Reading technical literature. Not available to students whose first language is Japanese. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Improved aural comprehension ability at both semi-formal (lecture mode) and informal (conversational) level. Increased general vocabulary, including some technical terms specific to subject matter. Improved reading ability with an increased working knowledge of kanji characters. Improved paragraph writing skills through written assignments. Increased understanding of Japanese society and people. |
