Syllabus:History of sedimentology. Physical properties of sediments, weathering and the sedimentary cycle. Sediment classification. Sedimentary processes. Sedimentary structures. Introduction to the study of sedimentary environments, facies and basin fill.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Understood how sedimentry processess are used to interpret modern and ancient depositional environments.
