Syllabus:The nutritional requirements of various classes, breeds, types and species of farm animals and the formulation of rations. Assessment, testing and analysis of rations in terms of protein, energy, and invitro digestibility.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to explain the principles of protein and carbohydrate metabolism and described the application of feeding standards to livestock. Described the potential interactions between nutrients and determine the nutritive value of some common feed sources. Described the procedures and application of feed processing. Described the impact of anti-nutritional factors in feeds on animal production and means of limiting their effects and developed appropriate management programs for feeding stock during feed shortages.
