Syllabus: | Research methods and designs, interference and causation, review of descriptive and analytical epidemiological, clinical, animal, cellular and molecular studies. Strategic targeted research priorities. Review of descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, estimation and confidence intervals, parametric analysis, correlation co-efficients, statistical software application. Formulation, development and preparation of a research proposal. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have discussed and critiqued concepts of nutrition research including cellular, animal and population based research. Selected and explained the statistical analysis for different research experiments and study designs. Formulated, developed and defended a nutrition research proposal. Generated a nutrition research proposal including critique of the literature, formulation of hypothesis, slection of appropriate research methodology and study design. |
