Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have advanced understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of immunology. Demonstrate understanding of both the normal functions of the immune system and the aberrations of the immune system which can lead to disease. Demonstrated awareness of the main immunololgical mechanisms of tissue damage and the consequences of deregulation of the immune system. Demonstrated an understanding of the role of immunology in medical science, especially in the diagnosis of immune disease. Demonstrated capacity to read and analyse papers published in immunological journals. Demonstrated practical and interpretative skills relevant to a selection of immunologically based laboratory procedures. |
