Syllabus:

Fundamental study of the relationships between ideas and architectural space, form and structure as related to human culture. Principles are developed through assigned architectural and interior design projects.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed critical thinking skills through design tasks involving the application of knowledge, conceptualisation, decision making, and problem solving. Skills in the application and development of drawn and non-drawn communication of ideas in architecture and interior architecture design. Developed teamwork skills through practise.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Projects 1 and 2, (3 weeks) initial collaborative exercise and mentoring, graphic and modeling exercise 20 %,. Project 3 (4 weeks) hands-on environmental exercise prototyping in a sensitive site 30 %, Project 4 (6 weeks) house for a notable character who is well documented in publications 40 %, Participation and Folio (continuous) 10 %. This is by grade/mark assessment.
