Syllabus: | Review of pdf, cdf distribution. Change of variable, simulation of random variables. Standard probability distributions and their applications. Modelling. Methods of parameter estimation. Checking distribution assumptions, contingency tables. Goodness of fit. Multiple linear regression. Non parametrics. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of the unit the student will be able to perform modeling using various distributions & calculate related probabilities, expected values and simulate data; Explain and apply simple techniques dealing with moments and independent sums; Explain distribution function and calculate goodness-of- fit statistics; Use non-parametric tests and hypothesis testing; Analyze relationships between variables using linear regression, including transformations; Analyze multiple linear regression models using parameter estimation, ANOVA tables and hypothesis tests; Explain and apply regression diagnostics and variable selection methods. |
