Syllabus:	Provides a theoretical framework and develops appropriate research and writing skills to enable students to locate their practice as artists within the larger context of cultural theory. It explores the theoretical issues that inform contemporary art, writing and criticism. The development of skills in creating written texts suitable for publication is encouraged.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed skills in specific modes of research practice employed in the visual arts. Identified pertinent areas of theoretical speculation and undertaken research into areas that are apposite to their practice as artists. The ability to discuss in both written and oral contexts critical issues related to their own practice as artists.
