Syllabus:

This highly experiential unit will enable the try out of group processes and provides feedback from the group and class facilitator. Appropriate theoretical background and research will be integrated with class activities. Clear insights into, and a deeper understanding of, your own facilitation style(s) will be developed.

Unit Outcomes:

At the end of this unit students will have - Effectively analysed organisational issues with clients. Contracted roles and responsibilities. Chosen from an array of possible group processes. Used mind mapping skills to summarise ideas and learning. Discussed ethical issues involved in group facilitation work. Designed appropriate workshop agendas under headings - content, process and time. Analysed your own interpersonal skills and areas that require development. Identify symptoms of phenomena like - group think, dependency and flight. Decided when and how to confront an individual and groups appropriately. Critiqued and identified weaknesses in workshop design, processes and outcomes. Used strategies to maintain personal energy, esteem and integrity.
