Syllabus:Labour supply, labour demand, education and training, internal labour markets, discrimination and segmentation, earnings, competitive and non competitive theories of the labour market, the structure of earnings, efficiency wages, unemployment, migration.;;
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of the nature of modern labour economics and the way in which it is applied in the public policy environment. Demonstrate that they have a knowledge of key labour market issues, especially in the East Asian region. Demonstrated that they understand the nature of mainstream labour economics and how it is applied to specific labour market issues. Demonstrated that they can access and utlise current sources of data on labour market issues. Demonstrated that they are adept at participating in debates and discussions on important labour market issues. Demonstrated that they can summarise and critically evaluate basic journal articles on labour economics and labour market issues.
