Syllabus: | An introduction to the frameworks of workplace safety, physical hazards, preferred order (hierarchy) of control, machinery guarding, fire and explosion prevention and protection, storage and handling of hazardous materials, construction safety, electrical safety, safe systems, transport safety, radiation safety, lockout and tagging, accident causation, incident investigation and reports, confined spaces. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to- Demonstrate an understanding of the identification of a range of mechanical, electrical, fire, explosion, construction and confined space hazards in workplaces. Demonstrate an understandingof the requirements for Design Registration and Individual Registration of plant and machines. Assesse the risks associated with several workplace hazards. Describe a range of control measures, such as the hierarchy of control to manage workplace hazardstogether with specific controls for particular hazards. |
