Syllabus:Compilation and presentation of a dissertation on a topic determined in consultation with the research supervisor usually from the following fields - experimental cartography, map evaluation, map atlas design, computer-assisted cartography, land information systems/geographic information systems, or remote sensing applications to cartography. Other projects will be considered. Students will present a seminar on their honours dissertation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Demonstrated ability to undertake independent research in an area of the spatial sciences, utilised available sources of reference information to evaluate the current development status of theirresearch area, planned executed and evaluated independent research in the spatial sciences and communicated the outcomes of their research by written and oral means.
