Syllabus: | An introduction to the basic and core concepts in recruiting and selection. The unit provides an analysis of various assessment procedures for the use in selecting and/or promoting staff. Students are introduced to concepts relating to these assessments devices and to the factors involved in making decisions to apply selection assessment procedures. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understanding of the selection process in both organisational recruitment and promotion. Assessed the appropriateness of an organisation's recruitment or promotion system. Evaluated an Organisation's recruitment or promotion system. Applied higher level of cognitive thinking to the selection process. |

Unit Assessment Breakdown: | Case Study 1 20%, Case Study 2 40%, Final Examination 40%. This is done by grade/mark assessment. Students must complete all elements of the course and attend 80% of lectures. Failure to complete the course results in a grade of DNC - Did Not Complete - being awarded. Students must pass th individual assessment components (assignments plus examinations) to pass the unit. |
