Syllabus:Introduction to the psychosocial impact of disability. Theory of disability management and implications for psychological approaches to rehabilitation. Integration of medical, occupational, educational and social assessment information. Development of appropriate intervention plans and strategies. Communication within a multidisciplinary context.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to demonstrate - Knowledge of the anatomical and physiological backgrounds to a range of disabling conditions. Understanding of the psychosocial impact of disability. Understanding of the holistic nature of assessment. Knowledge of the functional consequences of a range of disorders. The capacity to integrate medical, psychological and social information into rehabilitation assessment. The ability to communicate with medical, nursing and allied health service providers involved in rehabilitation. Case study and report writing skills.
